Pennies 4 Profit Rules

BE SURE TO CAREFULLY READ THESE OFFICIAL RULES BEFORE ENTERING AS YOU WILL BE BOUND BY THEM.

No purchase necessary. Purchase will not increase your chances of winning. Open to legal residents and nonprofit groups in the United States who are at least 18 years of age by the time of sweepstakes entry.  By participating, entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of the judges and/or Sponsor, which are binding and final on matters relating to this sweepstakes. Sweepstakes is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws.

ENTER: Contest begins on September 1, 2013, at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time (“EDT”) and ends on February 28, 2014, at 11:59 pm EDT (the “Entry Period”). During the Entry Period, visit http://www.farmersalmanac.com/pennies4profit/ and follow the directions provided to complete the entry, and you will be automatically entered into out contest. Limit one (1) entry per group/person and per email address. Entries generated by script, macro or other automated means are void. All entries become the property of Sponsors and will not be acknowledged or returned. Entry is on-line only.

DRAWING: Seven potential winners/groups will be selected after Farmers’ Almanac staff reviews all entries and chooses 7 of the most compelling causes as possible winners. On March 10, 2014, we will post the entries chosen as possible winners and then open voting up to all web visitors. You may vote as many times as you want but only once a day.

Voting will end on March 21, 2014, at 12:01 AM (Eastern Time), and the top three groups with the most votes will be awarded 50,000 pennies ($500 check) each from Farmers’ Almanac. Winners announced on April 14, 2014.

Potential winners will be contacted by phone and or e-mail address associated with their entry, and asked to confirm prize acceptance and provide a complete mailing address for the purposes of prize shipment, and proof that the winning charity/nonprofit already benefited from a donation from you/your group.

Winning nonprofit groups must fit at least one of these categories:

  • Education
  • Farming/Gardening Efforts
  • Ending Hunger
  • Helping Homeless
  • Sustainability/Green Efforts
  • Children
  • Animals
  • Medical Nonprofit Organizations/Individuals

And they must be in the United States.

Potential winner(s) must respond within seven (7) days of Sponsor’s first Prize Notification with requested information. Failure to respond within this period of time or non-compliance with any of these requirements will result in disqualification, forfeiture of the prize and the selection of an alternate winner. Return of Prize Notification as undeliverable will result in disqualification, forfeiture of the prize and the selection of an alternate winner.

PRIZES: Three Grand Prizes of $500 donation (each) to charitable, nonprofit organizations that fit our requirements will be awarded. Winners are solely responsible for all expenses, costs or fees associated with acceptance and/or use of the prize.

GENERAL CONDITIONS: Released Parties (as defined below) are not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, inaccurate, stolen, misdirected, undelivered or garbled entries, orders or e-mail; or for lost, interrupted or unavailable network, server, Internet Service Provider (ISP), website, or other connections, availability or accessibility or miscommunications or failed computer, satellite, telephone or cable transmissions, lines, or technical failure or jumbled, scrambled, delayed, or misdirected transmissions or computer hardware or software malfunctions, failures or difficulties, or other errors or difficulties of any kind whether human, mechanical, electronic, computer, network, typographical, printing or otherwise relating to or in connection with the sweepstakes, including, without limitation, errors or difficulties which may occur in connection with the administration of the sweepstakes, the processing of entries, the announcement of the prizes, or in any sweepstakes-related materials. Released Parties are also not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by site users, tampering, hacking, or by any equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the sweepstakes.

Released Parties are not responsible for injury or damage to participants’ or to any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participating in this sweepstakes or downloading materials from or use of the website. Persons who tamper with or abuse any aspect of the sweepstakes or website or who are in violation of these Official Rules, as solely determined by Sponsor, will be disqualified and all associated entries will be void. Should any portion of the sweepstakes be, in Sponsor’s sole opinion, compromised by virus, worms, bugs, non-authorized human intervention or other causes which, in the sole opinion of the Sponsor, corrupt or impair the administration, security, fairness or proper play, or submission of entries, Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to suspend, modify or terminate the sweepstakes and, if terminated, at its discretion, select the potential winners from all eligible, non-suspect entries received prior to action taken or as otherwise deemed fair and appropriate by Sponsor. Entrants, by participating, agree that Sponsor, Almanac Publishing Company, Geiger Group, and their respective parents, affiliates, subsidiaries and advertising and promotion agencies and all of their respective officers, directors, employees, representatives and agents (collectively, “Released Parties”) will have no liability whatsoever for, and shall be held harmless by entrants against, any liability, for any injuries, losses or damages of any kind, including death, to persons, or property resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from acceptance, possession, misuse or use of a prize or participation in this sweepstakes. Each winner, by acceptance of prize, except where legally prohibited, grants permission for Sponsor and its designees to use his/her name, address (city and state), photograph, voice and/or other likeness and prize information for advertising, trade and promotional purposes without further compensation, in all media now known or hereafter discovered, worldwide in perpetuity, without notice or review or approval. In the event of a dispute regarding entries received from multiple users having the same e-mail account, the authorized subscriber of the e-mail account at the time of entry will be deemed to be the entrant and must comply with these Official Rules. Authorized account subscriber is the natural person who is assigned the e-mail address by the Internet Service Provider (ISP), online service provider, or other organization responsible for assigning e-mail addresses.

If you notice a hole in the upper left-hand corner of your Farmers' Almanac, don't return it to the store! That hole isn't a defect; it's a part of history. Starting with the first edition of the Farmers' Almanac in 1818, readers used to nail holes into the corners to hang it up in their homes, barns, and outhouses (to provide both reading material and toilet paper). In 1910, the Almanac's publishers began pre-drilling holes in the corners to make it even easier for readers to keep all of that invaluable information (and paper) handy.
