Summer Fun for Everyone — Grown-Ups Too!

Summer Fun for Everyone — Grown-Ups Too!

Summer is often a feel good time when the weather is nice and there are a lot of fun and relaxing things to do. However for many people the summer can be a stressful time. If you take care of kids, you may be thinking:  How am I going to keep the kids busy this summer?! For many of us adults out there, keeping the kids busy after the school year is over can be a challenge, especially if you work. There are probably hundreds of articles out there about fun family activities to do this summer, but what about us adults? Shouldn’t we have our own share of summer fun as well? It is important for adults out to take some time for out for yourself this summer. Here are some fun and creative ideas, try some of the below activities for adult fun in the sun this season:

Someone Say Sail?
Summer is the perfect time of the year for trying new and exciting things, especially for taking up a new hobby or two. Trying something new is a great way to explore ourselves and in the long run can greatly improve our lives in every possible way. Taking up a new hobby, for example, can be great for our overall health. It challenges our minds, helps us meet new people, and can be a great way to improve bodily health as well by getting more active. Taking up a water sport, for instance, like sailing, kayaking, or surfing might be just what makes this summer a memorable one. Not a big water fan? Well, how about taking up hot air ballooning? This is something that is exciting and an activity that everyone should do at least once in their life time. If you like heights, then another activity to try would be to go parachute gliding.

Not a thrill seeker? What about going hiking or even dusting off that old camera in the back of your closet and taking up nature photography as a hobby? Trying to spend as much time as possible outside in the summer sunshine  is one of the best ways to spend those long, summer days doing something that you love. Just pick something that you’ve been meaning to get to, like finally taking those tennis lessons, or getting up early to take a brisk walk. Have fun and enjoy the challenge of trying something new. Take a friend with you and try something out of the ordinary together.

If you notice a hole in the upper left-hand corner of your Farmers' Almanac, don't return it to the store! That hole isn't a defect; it's a part of history. Starting with the first edition of the Farmers' Almanac in 1818, readers used to nail holes into the corners to hang it up in their homes, barns, and outhouses (to provide both reading material and toilet paper). In 1910, the Almanac's publishers began pre-drilling holes in the corners to make it even easier for readers to keep all of that invaluable information (and paper) handy.
