Raw Skin? Think Chamomile Tea
Chamomile tea has a calming effect that helps skin irritations. Make a strong tea, pour it into a spray bottle, and then place it in the refrigerator. Once completely cool, spray on red and raw skin.

Bad Breath – Try Carrots
Carrots are a good way for dogs to help remove plaque on their teeth than can build up and cause smelly breath. Give your dog a carrot after he/she eats, and it should help.

Gum In Your Pet’s Hair?
Saturate the gum with olive oil. Then rub with your fingers to soften and comb it out. To remove olive oil, shampoo the dog as you normally would.

Reach for the vegetable shortening. Apply a dab of shortening to the affected areas and pry the burrs and stickers loose. You may want to wear gloves to avoid getting pricked.

Stop Accidents From Happening Again!
Dogs have a great sense of smell and therefore tend to have accidents in the same place. To keep your pet off this area, try cutting open a plastic garbage bag and covering the spot with plastic. Many say dogs don’t like the feel of plastic on their feet.

I have an older dog that has started showing signs of “anxiety
and or “OCD”. She has started licking a spot on her leg until it gets infected. If I cover it, she finds another spot to lick. It is a vicious cycle!

Ear Mite and ear infection treatment for dogs and cats.

•3 cloves garlic, crushed
•3 Tablespoons olive oil

In a non-coated pan, simmer (not boil) the garlic and olive oil for ten minutes. (High temperature cooks the value out of it). Strain out the garlic and put in small bottle with eyedropper.

Dosage: 1/2 to 1 dropper-full massaged into each ear twice a day, until gone.

Dear Farmer’s Almanac, Please don’t suggest that people use plastic bags around their pets. While it may deter pets from “going” in the same place, dogs will chew the plastic bags and they can choke on the plastic. I know how devastated I would be if I lost one of my dogs while trying to train them where to “go”.

Sand fleas don’t feed on blood roy. No worries there. And don’t put wd40 on your dog. Ever read the warning label?

I wonder..about rash on hairless cat, if coconut oil wont harm the pet if licked off, eaten , ingested, I’d use that. Olive oil can also be used. Find out what’s the cause of the rash first. Allergic reaction rash can be treated with plain yogurt on dogs, may also be safe for cats. Look up these stuffs before using tho.

Our cats used to chew electrical cords … anyone else have a problem with this? Anyway, cats dislike the smell and taste of citrus. Unplug the cord and run a slice of orange or lemon along the length of the cord … works great.

Roy Spears – vinegar and water mixture either sprayed or rinsed in tub. Fleas hate vinegar. We use it to spray the carpet, let dry and vacuum. You need to spray or rinse your dog at least once a day or every other day. Our dog even licks the solution after we rinse him. We also use Canine Advantix II once a month. Good luck.

We have two dogs that will from time to time get into marking wars with each other. We have discovered that if they pee in the house, vinegar will stop the cycle. After you have cleaned the area, and it has dried. Put some vinegar in a spray bottle. Spray the area when you are getting ready to leave or go to bed, etc.; dogs sniff before they go and will not go there. It’s cheap and it works great.

If you notice a hole in the upper left-hand corner of your Farmers' Almanac, don't return it to the store! That hole isn't a defect; it's a part of history. Starting with the first edition of the Farmers' Almanac in 1818, readers used to nail holes into the corners to hang it up in their homes, barns, and outhouses (to provide both reading material and toilet paper). In 1910, the Almanac's publishers began pre-drilling holes in the corners to make it even easier for readers to keep all of that invaluable information (and paper) handy.
